A PRIVILEGED WITNESS
THE TRUTH
ABOUT BILLIONAIRE
EDMOND SAFRA'S DEATH
By Ted Maher, the man scapegoated for the crime

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TED MAHER BREAKS HIS SILENCE ON BILLIONAIRE BANKER EDMOND SAFRA’S FIERY DEATH
In the early hours of December 3, 1999, billionaire banker Edmond Safra was killed when a fierce fire engulfed his lavish Monte Carlo penthouse. Was the fire a tragic, unfortunate accident? Or was it the result of something more sinister, like a reported break-in by two assailants or a well-executed Russian mob hit? Furthermore, where was Safra’s trained security detail on the night in question? The heatedly contested sequence of events threatened to tarnish Monaco’s golden image as a safe haven for the rich and famous. Speculation and rumors still abound to this day.
At the time of his death, Edmond Safra was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the 200 wealthiest individuals in the world. Safra also employed a staff of around-the-clock nurses to help him care for his long-lasting Parkinson’s disease. On the tragic night of the fire, one of Safra’s nurses, former Green Beret Ted Maher, woke up bloodied and blamed. Despite the many mysteries that surrounded Safra’s death and the growing list of potential suspects, Ted was held solely responsible for the crime.
In A PRIVILEGED WITNESS: The Truth About Billionaire Edmond Safra’s Death (New Horizon Press, September 2015), Ted breaks his long silence about what really happened on that fateful night, revealing previously untold details and intimate facts about his trial and conviction. Ted’s ongoing fight to expose the truth provides the gripping answers to some long-speculated questions, such as: Why did Ted claim he acted alone, motivated by self-interest and paranoia and specifically out of fear of losing his highly rewarding job? Was the confession forced? How did Ted orchestrate his attempted prison break? And what of the allegations in 2007 by Judge Jean-Christophe Hullin that the outcome of Ted’s trial had been predetermined?
A PRIVILEGED WITNESS opens two doors: a platinum portal into the luxurious life of the Safras and a hard iron cell gate into the 2,814 days of Ted Maher’s nightmare. It also provides the final chance for an innocent man to clear his name.
