Ted Maher always takes things to the next level. He climbs quickly from Basic Training to Green Beret. And he is always trying to do the right thing. When Ted finds a camera at the hospital he works for, he develops the film to identify its rightful owners. After returning the camera, he is rewarded with a job offer and in a matter of days he finds himself in Monte Carlo, working as a personal nurse to one of the world’s wealthiest men: billionaire banker Edmond Safra.

What he doesn't yet know, is that a perfect storm has begun.

Ted gets along well with Safra, but he soon observes that things are run De Gauche à Droite in Safra’s world.

In December of 1999, Ted’s dream becomes a nightmare.

The mysteries surrounding Safra’s death were complex.

There was no shortage of potential suspects, from the Russian Mafia to Colombian drug cartels. The disputed events ignited a heated global controversy and threatened to tarnish Monaco’s golden image as a safe haven for the rich and famous. Yet Ted Maher, the American, was held solely responsible for the crime.

Ted’s journey from a dream job on the Côte d’Azure to a surreal nightmare of betrayal and deception has more levels of intrigue and suspense than a blockbuster spy thriller.

With all the details the media couldn’t—or wouldn’t—reveal, including two kidnappings, two hunger strikes and a nail-biting prison break, A Privileged Witness opens two doors: a platinum portal into the luxurious life of the Safras and a hard iron cell gate into the 2,814 days of Ted Maher’s ordeal. It also provides the final chance for an innocent man to clear his name.

"A work of non-fiction that reads like the kind of novel from which blockbuster movies are made, A Privileged Witness: The Truth About Billionaire Edmond Safra’s Death is a compelling and absorbing read from beginning to end. Impressively well written, organized and presented, A Privileged Witness is highly recommended."

Amazing story and beautifully written! If I were a movie producer I would definitely turn this book into a motion picture. It's intriguing and suspenseful, but I personally found Ted Maher's story also very inspirational. No wonder he was a Green Beret! He is the definition of a strong man. I wish this book much well deserved success.
